Apple and ChatGPT’s creator, OpenAI, are currently under discussion. They could enable generative AI tools to come to iPhone!
Apple’s ambitions on artificial intelligence are starting to be known. While the most popular products, such as Gemini, are accessible on the net, the Cupertino company hopes to be able to seduce by offering artificial intelligence locally, without having to connect to the web. A project for which he has already made company acquisitions. But the Californian company also aspires to benefit from the more traditional tools in the industry, which leads it to talk to giants such as OpenAI.
There is talk of an AI entry into iPhones
Apple and OpenAI have resumed discussions about integrating the latter’s technology into iPhones, Reuters reports. The giant founded by Steve Jobs hopes to be able to offer generative AI features developed by OpenAI in its smartphones.
The discussions are about both the terms of a deal, but also how Altman’s company’s technology could marry iPhones. The goal is to have a first result with the release of iOS 18.
In the field of generative artificial intelligence, Apple is an open player and able to compete with the competition. Because despite its prestige, OpenAI is not the only company that the brand with the bitten apple has solicited, exchanges are also taking place between the latter and Google, exchanges regarding the potential arrival of Gemini on the iPhone.
According to Bloomberg, no final decision has been made within Apple. It would thus be possible for the giant to choose one of the two partners, or both, or even simply move towards a new choice. Suffice it to say that the management does not seem to be in much of a hurry, while the presentation of iOS 18 will take place during this month of June 2024.
